The Hodgkins put on a highly successful BBQ, with the chicken skewers a particular highlight. With lots of money raised towards club funds, and a good night had by all, they have got the outdoor grilling job for the foreseeable future.
Several members volunteered at the Nottingham Open, where Jo Konta and Dan Evans reached the women’s and men’s final respectively but both ultimately ended up coming second on finals day.
And our own tournaments are well underway, with a record number of entries in the over-50s singles tournaments. (It is the first year we have run it.) The first weekend in September should produce the kind of tennis that people camp overnight at Wimbledon for!
