What a Finals Day we have had this year, with a whopping 8 finals played (including one we saved from last year). Rumour has it, the best tennis ever seen on an astro court was on show last Saturday. So thank you to everyone who helped make the day a success, but in particular to our Tournament Director extroadinaire Bryony.
And congratulations to our champions, who this year are:
Ben in the men’s singles (2017 version), who defeated James. He was the reigning champion for a matter of hours as the men’s singles title (2018 version) was won by Matt, with Jak taking the runner-up spot.
Caroline added to her Musters singles titles with a win over Steffi (and must surely be approaching record-breaking levels). And then the opponents joined forces in the Women’s doubles to conquer Bryony and Amy .
In the mixed doubles, Lisa and Matt came out winners against Amy and Ian, but Matt could not quite make a clean sweep of titles in the men’s doubles where he and Jak lost to Richard and Rob.
But the champagne tennis did not finish there. The Over 50s Singles was a hard-fought, much coveted title, but the eventual winners were Mike Clayton in the men’s after edging out Ian, and Pat in the ladies, who battled with Sally for more than 2 hours before claiming the title.
It’s been a vintage tournament year! Here’s to 2019 matching it!
